Biography
Deanna Csomo Ferrell (formerly McCool) is senior assistant director of marketing communications for the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
She joined the university in 2017 after more than two decades in journalism, including reporting stints at The South Bend Tribune and The Palladium-Item in Richmond, Ind.
A graduate of Indiana University, she earned a master’s degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University.
Her essay, "Total Eclipse," was published in the 2020 Best American Science and Nature Writing anthology.
She teaches Principles of Science Communications, a writing intensive course cross-listed for both science majors and JED minors.
