Biography

Brendan O’Shaughnessy is a features writer for the University of Notre Dame. He joined the Strategic Content team in 2014 after five years as a speechwriter for the University president. His stories have won several awards from CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Previously, he was a reporter at the Indianapolis Star and Times of Northwest Indiana covering local and state government, often with a focus on investigative work. His essays and articles have appeared in the Chicago Tribune and USA Today, as well as several magazines, college writing anthologies and online workshops. He is also co-author of three Notre Dame children’s books.

A 1993 Notre Dame graduate, he earned master’s degrees in English and journalism, respectively, from DePaul University and Northwestern University’s Medill School. He has taught writing courses at Holy Cross College, Saint Mary’s College and Notre Dame since 2010.
