Internships

Recognizing the importance of internships to professional development, the Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy financially sponsors student positions at news organizations throughout the country.

Students in the journalism program apply for Gallivan-sponsored internships during the fall semester. There are no guarantees that a student will be hired for a Gallivan-funded internship — each news organization conducts an independent screening process to select its candidates.

Students are also encouraged to seek internships on their own. The Gallivan Program provides regular notifications about  opportunities that fulfill the journalism minor’s internship requirement. Notre Dame’s Center for Career Development offers additional information about journalism positions available for students.
