Jack Colwell is a distinguished visiting journalist with the Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy at the University of Notre Dame.
Prof. Colwell leads an opinion writing class.
He is a columnist at The South Bend Tribune and a member of the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame. Besides serving on the Notre Dame faculty, he is a newspaper columnist and frequent participant in public affairs and news programs on television. Colwell was political writer for the South Bend Tribune for over 38 years: from 1964 until retiring from full-time employment at the newspaper in 2003.
He continues to write a political column for the Tribune and online for Howey Politics Indiana. He has covered 20 national political conventions, sessions of the Indiana General Assembly and political campaigns from local to presidential.
