Jennifer Weingart is a distinguished visiting journalist with the Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy at the University of Notre Dame. She is currently a senior reporter, assignment editor and host at WVPE Public Radio in Elkhart, Ind.
Previously, she worked as a reporter at WDET Public Radio in Detroit and WCMU Public Media in Mount Pleasant, Mich. Her work has been heard nationally on NPR’s news magazine programs All Things Considered and Morning Edition, NPR’s newcasts and on npr.org. It is also heard across two states through the Indiana Public Broadcasting Network and the Michigan Public Radio Network. Her work has won an award of excellence from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Robert Newby Award for Diversity Efforts.
She graduated magna cum laude with honors from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Broadcasting and Journalism. In her spare time, she likes to run, climb things, read, and bake. She is learning to speak Swedish.
In Spring 2018, she will be working with students in two digital journalism courses, Covering America and The Digital Newsroom.
